ABOUT THE YOUNGSTOWN CRC

WHAT IS THE CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE?
The Charter Review Committee (CRC) is charged with reviewing the city’s charter and making suggested changes for voters to consider during the November general election of 2012.

Section 3. "A Charter Review Committee will be convened by the Mayor every four (4) years to review and consider recommending amendments to the Charter."


HOW MANY MEMBERS ARE ARE THERE AND HOW ARE THEY APPOINTED?
The CRC consists of 11 members. Each City Councilperson makes one (1) appointment. The President of Council appoints one (1). The Mayor appoints three (3).

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
The CRC will collect input from the general public as well as from City Council, city department heads and the Mayor. All recommendations will be completed by June 1st, 2012. The recommendations will be voted upon by City Council over the summer of 2012. Approved recommendations will then be placed upon the November 2012 general election ballot for voter approval.
